How did you get into the travel industry is a question I am asked frequently. Who would have thought my answer would be that it all started after my honeymoon to Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

 My travel bug was fueled when my husband was offered an expat position in Italy. We packed up and moved across the pond to Modena, Italy (home of balsamic vinegar) with our children, who were 5 and 7 years old. While living in Italy we were immersed in Italian culture and traveled the country.

 I also became an expert on countries like Italy, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Greece and Spain.  We became very smart tourists in big cities and then smaller cities and neighboring countries .…Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Turkey and Palma de Mallorca.  The ongoing family joke was how many stamps can we get in the passports and what’s our latest airline status.  This is what propelled my desire to become a travel agent 15 years ago. I wanted to show people how to travel like a pro.

I am well traveled and have been to most of the destinations that I book, however, there are new destinations that come up frequently and I love to learn about a new place. Some of my favorite European countries are Italy, Greece, UK, Ireland, Slovenia and Hungary.

Looking for a river cruise I like AmaWaterways, Avalon and Viking. I take my time planning and treat your vacation like I am planning my own while taking into account your individual needs. Your vacation should be exactly that, yours, not like anyone else’s.

Having said that I also do Caribbean vacations and cruises along with many other types of vacations and destinations.

I am a Certified Travel Consultant. To attain this rating I had to complete a formal training course and pass a professional examination.  I must also take continuing education credits every year to maintain this accreditation. This keeps me up to date with the newest information so I can confidently book your vacation in this ever changing travel industry.

Having traveled all over the world, one place that "takes me away from it all" is the Caribbean and Mexico. There is no other place that is comparable. A major benefit is that it's close to the United States and it offers up beauty and diverse cultures.

Location, style, and budget are probably the three most important factors for selecting an all-inclusive resort.

All inclusive resorts are not all created equal and you need to know what's included. I research the inclusions and distinctions of major all inclusive brands that can feel complex and overwhelming. There may be fine dining establishments that are not included in a stay and premium beverages (wine, top shelf liquors, etc.) may also come at an additional fee. 

These days, there are some absolutely amazing, luxurious all-inclusive options in Mexico, and the Caribbean. They have multiple restaurants, top shelf alcohol, concierge and butler service, large rooms, entertainment and activities galore, expectations can be exceeded if you pick the right resort and destination.   

Sandals and Beaches Resorts (Sandals are adult only, while the Beaches brand is for families). 

Beaches Resorts are a perennial favorite with my clients and my family. It is not hard to understand why Beaches Turks and Caicos is the one resort we have been to multiple times now. It has been rated the number one family resort in the Caribbean 24 years in a row. The food, service and accommodations are top notch.

While my husband would readily agree the prices at first are a bit much, if you dig into what you get you will understand the value. Many of the 21 restaurants and 2 food trucks on site are equivalent to your typical 4 star restaurant anywhere in the world. Top shelf liquor is served from 15 bars daily. They have a full on site water park including a surf simulator for kids, teens and adults. If you have younger children there is available child care and youth activities.

Sandals is the parent company of Beaches Resorts and is the adult only version of their top rated resorts. Great food, top notch service and stunning views are standard. They have multiple locations located throughout the Caribbean and are a 5 star rated luxury resort.  Sandals has also added over the water bungalows at select resorts, bringing the French Polynesian to a destination near you. These resorts are wonderful for honeymoons or couples getaways.

During my training to become a Platinum agent for Sandals/Beaches we traveled with other agents to tour all their locations and see firsthand the different accommodation levels available.  I have been a Certified Sandals Specialist for over 10 years. 

Karisma Resorts are another amazing brand that I highly recommend. Their resorts are gourmet inclusive so they are perfect for wedding parties, honeymoons, romantic getaways, families and foodies. 

Most of the resorts are located in the Cancun/Riviera Maya/Maroma area of Mexico with a new Azul Beach resort in Negril, Jamaica and the Nickelodeon Resort located in Punta Cana.

The El Dorado resorts are adult only properties, while the Azul Beach Resort, Generations and Nickelodeon are family properties. Many of the El Dorado properties have received the AAA Four Diamond Award and have been named by Conde Nast Traveler as one of the top 100 hotels in the world.

The food varies from authentic Mexican and Latin fusion cuisine to contemporary Italian with Pacific Rim dishes. Daily activities can be found throughout the resorts. 

AM Resorts are another favorite brand that I recommend. These resorts consist of family and adult only.

The family resorts consist of Dreams and Sunscape resorts, while adult only consist of Secrets, Breathless, Zoetry, Vivid and Alua resorts.

These resorts have enough features to make you leave the property unnecessary. They include gourmet restaurants, exclusive spas and beautiful beaches. These resorts cater to two types of travelers; honeymoon couples and family.
